This article will show you how to install third-party (uninstalled) software on Mac OS X. With Mac OS Sierra, such software is marked as unregistered, so you need to follow a few steps to be able to install any software. You can either allow a one-time installation or turn off the new software installation blocker altogether.
Download software (as usual) from the internet. If the system asks if you want to save the file, answer yes. Note that you may only save a file if you are sure that it is safe and secure.
Run the downloaded file. A pop-up window will appear with the following error message: "Program [name] cannot be launched because it has not been downloaded from the App Store".
Click OK. The pop-up window will be closed.
Open the Apple menu. To do so, click on the Apple logo in the top left corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will open.
Click System Settings. This option is located at the top of the drop-down menu.
Click on Protection and Security. This option is located at the top of the System Preferences window.
Click on the lock icon. It is located in the bottom left corner of the window.
Enter your password and then click Unlock. You can now edit menu items.
Click Open. This option is next to the name of the downloaded file.
Click Open when prompted. The installation file will be opened, allowing you to install the programme.
